“A Sense Of History”

It was shortly after this that I decided to leave writing for the screen and turn to the novel instead, thereby gaining a greater freedom in approach to story-telling.
I wrote six of the first thirteen AVENGERS screenplays for Pat with Honor Blackman, but only one episode subsequent to them, when the delectable Diana Rigg took Honor’s place.
That episode was A SENSE OF HISTORY in which, as you see here, I just happened to wake in the middle of the night with a vision of her in Robin Hood drag.
( If anyone wonders, sometimes, how the stories for the AVENGERS were conceived, this is the answer. Having decided that Ms Rigg would look charming in Maid Marian gear, the only question was how to build a plot in which it might be plausible for her to appear thus. Such a story might, I dare say, end up by being a little far-fetched, but there you go . . . )
