To educate anyone — child or adult — all that is needed is a book.  Later, perhaps, a teacher to use that book as a tool but, to begin with, just a supply of pictures, and of words to go with them :-

“This is a chicken.”   “This is a snake, and dangerous.”  

 “Here is how to get fresh, clean water.”

Our charity, The Light of Learning,

is in the business of bringing books, and hence

reading, to every person in the world.

At a very rough estimate, there are around two billion people in the world who have access to neither education nor electricity.  To lack education is to risk becoming a prey to disasters and lack of resources, or to other people who, having more by way of resources but being greedy for goods or power, will seek to exploit or enslave you.
